Boris Johnson is a buffoon and that is of course what attracts Londoners to him, either to laugh at him with derision, or with him, knowingly; knowing that he has stumbled and literally stumbled upon an electable persona that could maintain the status quo in favour of his most precious and most obscenely filthy rich.
Delivering the annual Margaret Thatcher lecture, he said, "I stress – I don't believe that economic equality is possible; indeed some measure of inequality is essential for the spirit of envy and keeping up with the Jones'es that is, like greed, a valuable spur to economic activity."
Boris does not hold back with the hyperbole and the historical references that reinforce his claim to be an heir by right of passage to the mayordom of Londinium, and beyond, the most Prime of Ministers of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Boris was keen to highlight the contribution of income tax paid by the Filthy Rich. "That is an awful lot of schools and roads and hospitals that are being paid for by the super-rich. So why, I asked innocently, are they so despicable in the eyes of all decent British people? Surely they should be hailed like the Stakhanovites of Stalin's Russia, who half-killed themselves, in the name of the people, by mining record tonnages of coal?"
Boris is of course full of shit.
Why despicable the Filthy Rich?
