Mrs. Monk's Would-be Diary should have been written by Mrs. Monk, since she is the "Writer" in the family.
However, since she is a writer only in the conceptual sense, I have undertaken to fill these pages on her behalf
If not by her, these pages will certainly be about her, and other important matters of the day         Leslie Monk

All Legal

Our very own David Amess MP is in the midst of a new expenses scandal for claiming taxpayers money for rent while receiving rental income on another property. His holiday in the paradise islands of the Maldives was also funded indirectly by the taxpayer.

The new story initially broke in the Daily Telegraph.

He has not responded to the Evening Echo but he has defended his position to Mrs Monk on Twitter.

Amess defended his expenses to Mrs Monk on twitter, claiming that they were within the rules and legal. The conversation was not too riveting, but as follows......

"David Amess Claiming For One Home And Renting Out Another"

DavidAmessMP

"It is all legal, look at the rules book."

saramo@saramo

"Was your little trip to the Maldives legal too?"

DavidAmessMP

"Absolutely."

This is hardly a convincing defence but all he had to offer.

Apparently Starbucks has just been embarrassed into a change of heart by the disclosure of their immoral tax affairs which were also within the rules, perfectly legal, and imperfectly moral.

David Amess might need to try harder.

"It is all legal, look at the rules book."

David Amess is not exactly out to defend himself against allegations of Parliamentary Expense Abuses, discussed in the national press. But he is keen to defend the very “responsible” Leigh and Westcliff Times, who are happy to promote his version of the

Queen’s Speech

and also ignore the other messy stuff.

According to Mr Amess it is those wicked bloggers that are at fault.

However, he is very keen to show us his cuddly side.

How unconvincing.
