Mrs. Monk's Would-be Diary should have been written by Mrs. Monk, since she is the "Writer" in the family.
However, since she is a writer only in the conceptual sense, I have undertaken to fill these pages on her behalf
If not by her, these pages will certainly be about her, and other important matters of the day         Leslie Monk

Gove’s Forced Academies

by  Monk 7 January 2012

The Anti Academies Alliance has asked me to ask you to provide them with urgent support, before Michael Gove's debate in Parliament, 12th January.

If you are a parent you should be concerned about what is about to happen next week.

If you are persuaded to applaud the so called benefits of converting schools to Academy status, please think again. I would urge you to examine the evidence provided by the Anti Academies Alliance.

Do not accept what this Government is saying about the so called success of Academies.

Make up your own mind about this, because this policy may well damage your child's education if your child goes to a state school, unlike the old Etonians, Cameron and Clegg.

Please write to your MP and ask them how many Academies reduced the number of qualified permanent full time class room teachers in their schools.

The truth about this is carefully disguised or otherwise not discussed by official sources, because it would be so damaging to the Pro Academy camp led by Michael Gove. Unlike state schools, Academies are allowed to keep big fat secrets.

Please write to your MP and demand that he speaks up against this proposal at least until these important facts are put into the public domain.

Some Academies have not fulfilled their promises and have asset stripped former state schools, of their most qualified staff, and in order to save money.

Ask yourself if this is a privatisation too far?

If you do write and get a reply, please let me know.

Here is a more measured response by the Anti Academy Alliance. Forced Academies
