BBC Breakfast trailed the "good news" announced today that we are out of recession by 1 point. That would be progress based upon the Olympic factor by common consent.
To illustrate the story the BBC took us to the factory which made the Olympic torches and where a smiling manager was apparently delighted to be on live TV and took every opportunity to promote his business. When he was asked if he were still employing the 40 employees that he hired to make the Olympic Torches, he just kept on smiling as he gave the answer, "No."
David Cameron has been around the world trumpeting the success of the Olympics.
So, Mr Cameron, was the extravagant spend of public money on the Olympics, the cause of the recession, or a wise investment that has taken us out of it?
In short, do we need another Olympics, tout suite?
