Knickers are no longer optional.
18 June 2008
The Royal Enclosure at this seasons Ascot Race Meeting has introduced new rules.
They are concerned about declining standards of dress.
The new rules enforced this week will make sure that ladies do not show too much off the shoulder, or overindulge in bad taste gaudy fashions, and thirdly, that the wearing of knickers is now required. Knickers are no longer optional.
It did not occur to me that knicker-less ladies were a problem, particular in the Royal enclosure. Mrs Monk has been researching this new phenomena and took this picture this week in Southend on Sea where ladies certainly wear knickers at all times as far I know, and indeed seem willing to make them freely available for public verification.
I would like to volunteer for the onerous task of enforcing these new rules at Royal Ascot, but the Duke of Edinburgh has already taken on the onerous task in the public interest.
