I have a secret page on this web site for the exclusive use of my Tennis Pals, all eight of them.
There is no route or link to these pages, and only they are able to see how good or how bad they are doing on the tennis ladder.
Unlike Facebook users, we keep ourselves to ourselves, because what we get up to on the tennis court, is far too embarrassing for the contemplation of a wider audience.
So why would Microsoft want to block or ban images of eight friends that can only be seen by those same eight friends.
It is, I believe, because the Windows Explorer Browser cannot discern, without the assistance of another agency, what is good or what is bad, or what is a virus, and what is harmless.
Since viruses can be circulated by images and other attachments, Windows may interrupt, and has blocked access, when the alternative browsers, Google and Firefox do not. Windows offers no obvious remedy to the author of the potentially offending page, which is me, but they do offer a remedy to the reader of the page by reference to help by another online service that will then promise the reader a remedy that will cost the reader a premium, an unnecessary waste of their time and cash, that would on the face of it absolve Microsoft of any responsibility or obligation to correct decisions made by them that may be flawed.
Here is the technical problem. If you want to add more than a couple of JPegs of your friends to a web page, then this becomes a MIME (an acronym for: Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions). In other words, too much information.
However, not all of my eight friends are Windows Explorer Users. The lucky Google and Firefox users are not blocked and exposed to this unnecessary charge. The potential consequences in terms of the readership of Shoestringonline, is significant.
Id like to raise these issues with Microsoft, but there is no easy means to do this. That avenue is also blocked. The only choice open to my eight friends is to find another browser.
If you have experienced blocked access to any page that appears on the Shoestringonline home page, please contact shoestringonline through the contact link.
Thank you.
